MEMS Isolator

SWI series MEMS Isolator

The SWI-series isolator is a silicon-based MEMS process isolator chip manufactured using semiconductor fabrication techniques. Compared to traditional microstrip isolators, the SWI-series isolator offers miniaturization, lower insertion loss, and superior consistency in microwave performance.

Outstanding microwave performance

The SWI series isolator utilizes silicon-based SIW waveguide technology, where microwave signals propagate within the chip in the TE10 mode, rather than the quasi-TEM mode in traditional microstrip isolators. Thus, the SWI series isolator has some advantages which are similar to waveguide isolator:

  • Lower insertion loss compared to microstrip isolators operating at the same frequency, particularly in the Ku/Ka bands and above.
  • Higher power handling capacity, with typical ratings of 50W in the X and Ku bands, and 20W in the Ka band.
